Week of July 29

My dear Community,

Our store is bursting with my favorite season's freshest produce. Sweet bi-colored corn, juicy yellow peaches, watermelon that sets the bar, and cantaloupe that reminds me of quintessential california, are ready to brighten your meals and satisfy your taste buds. If you ordered corn last week there was a picking miscommunication but it's a go this week!

I’ve been reflecting a lot on what food safety means to me. When I think about our farm, I see nature in harmony. Government regulations under the guise of "food safety" are currently drowning small farms in hundreds of pages of rules that don’t really connect to a farm working alongside nature. They can force farmers to buy expensive machinery on a subscription basis and transform farms into a sterile rather than vibrant, soil-based environment.

Because of these new federal regulations, you won’t find our products in local grocery stores but only through our CSA program and farmers markets. We believe that supporting local farms like ours is essential to keeping our community strong and sustainable. So, we encourage you to vote with your dollar and spread the word. By doing so, you help keep local farms alive and thriving and we get to directly connect with you!

Enjoy this week’s bounty, and remember to share your culinary creations by tagging us on Instagram! @somethinggoodorganics #johngivensfarm

You can try Black Diamond meats at 10% off the Denver Steaks and Center cuts for this week. They'd love for you to try their delicious cuts and offer feedback.

Be good to each other.
